The story behind the story

As we go through life, our past and present experiences undoubtedly help shape and color our future.

The inspiration for the concept behind To and Fro came from a poem the author wrote, as a child, called "Like You, Like Me."

Having grown up in a family that encouraged respect and appreciation of all people and all things, the author expresses through her poem the value in overcoming xenophobia (n. fear or hatred of foreigners or strangers or of anything that is strange or foreign) and appreciating that all people, places, and things have far more in common with one another than they do differences.

The main characters in the book are inspired by the author's own children who share a similar sense of curiosity and creativity.
